Description
Ear Calm contains the active ingredient acetic acid, which as an antibacterial agent kills bacteria causing the ear infection. It is used as a treatment of minor or superficial infections of the external auditory canal.
How to use EarCalm
Adults and Children over the age of 12:
When using Ear calm for the first time, prime the pump by depressing the actuator 6 – 10 times until a fine spray is obtained. Don’t point the nozzle at yourself or someone else.
Place nozzle tip gently into the affected ear.
Each pump press administers one metered dose (60 milligrams) directly into the affected ear. Administer at least three times daily (after swimming, showering, or bathing). Maximum one spray every 2 – 3 hours.
After use clean the nozzle tip with a tissue.
If more than one week has passed since the last use, re-prime the pump by pressing a few times until a fine spray appears
Treatment should be continued until two days after symptoms have disappeared but no longer than 7 days.
Not recommended for children under the age of 12 years.
Ingredients
Active Ingredient: Acetic Acid (Glacial) 2.0% w/w
Other Ingredients: Marigold steady alcohol, stearyl alcohol, methyl parahydroxybenzoate (E 218), propyl parahydroxybenzoate (E 216), purified water.
Warnings
For external use only.
Do not put it directly into the eye.
Do not use Earcalm if:
The intended patient is 12 years old
The intended area for use is anywhere other than in the ear
You have a known allergy to acetic acid or vinegar
You should consult your doctor before use if you have a perforated eardrum. Do not use this treatment for more than 7 days. If symptoms do not improve, worsen or hearing is affected you must seek out medical advice.
Earcalm side effects
Not everyone will experience side effects when taking medicines as they can affect people differently.
 You may experience:
Sensitivity or an allergic reaction. If this happens it is important you stop using the spray and speak to your doctor or pharmacist.
A burning or stinging sensation upon initial treatments.
